Kobe was born on February 23，1978 in Philadelphia（费城）. He started basketball at the young age of 6. Kobe’s dad Joe played in the NBA for several years and coached his son‘s team to a state championship when he was just six years old. With an impressive performance in 2003-04，kobe made his first appearance in the All Star Game and finished third behind Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett in MVP voting. Also that year he led the Lakers to their first playoff series victory since 1982， breaking the longest drought in franchise history.
From then on，he never looked back. He won two more titles with Los Angeles before moving on to Italy to finish out his playing days where he won another title with Milan. When he finally retired in 2016， he had spent twenty seasons with the same franchise， which is certainly unheard of these days.
